Description

This non-accredited course has been designed to provide participants with the practical skills to be able to deal with common sporting injuries. Sports Injuries First Aid has a hands-on focus, giving you the opportunity to practice managing an unconscious casualty and treating a variety of injuries, such as neck and spinal, fractures, sprains, strains and wound care.There are no assessments as part of this course.

Who this course is recommended for:
• Sports coaches; and
• Players and spectators of sports.

St John Ambulance recommends that you refresh your first aid training every 12 months. This is also in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines that state CPR skills should be refreshed annually.

Course Duration: 6 hours

Course Content:

  • DRSABCD action plan;
  • Recovery position;
  • Foreign material;
  • Positional asphyxia;
  • Shock;
  • Head, neck and spinal injuries;
  • Eye injuries;
  • Heat induced injuries;
  • Severe bleeding;
  • Abdominal injuries;
  • Fractures, dislocations, sprains and strains; and
  • Basic wound care.
