Justin Warren – Living The Way – The Power Of Reversal Eating (A 22 Year Experiment)

The Power Of Reversal Eating – Eating Your Food In A Different Order Is The Key To Weight Control – A 22 Year Experiment

I look at the dieting industry today and its scary. If your a person hoping to lose weight gets confusing, Eat less Carb, Eat More Carbs, Eat Only Protien, Eat By Your Blood Type, Juice Fasting, Vegetarian, Protien Drinks, Exotic Plants & Herbs “Phew”, Its really confusing. The system of eating ive taken onboard doesnt go into detail of what foods you can eat, this isnt about that, however most of use are aware some foods arent good for you and too much food or not enough foods have their problems, some fatal.. This system is about timing your eating for maximum energy burning of the foods you eat, maximal repair and better energy by eating at the correct times.

Ive been lucky to maintain my weight and keep it the same as when I was a teenager, Exercise certainly played its part, and not over eating also helps but Reversal Eating is a principle I’ve followed for 22 years and its something I urge you to try. With this system, you could take the foods you eat now, eat them at the right times of the day and youll put on less weight and maybe even lose some, but if you do feel your getting abit heavy there are probably some foods you could remove and a few extra km or miles to add when you walk. Meanwhile Reversal Eating is a great place to start

I remember when I was 20 years old, I read a book that talked about Pat Cash (Australian tennis player who won Wimbledon) using a system of eating called Reversal Eating for greater energy, it turned out to be so much more  It wasnt about what you eat but rather the timing of what you eat. The system is summed up by the following phrase

“Eat Breakfast Like A King – Eat Lunch Like A Prince – Eat Dinner Like A Pauper”

The importance of timing really made sense to me. At the time as I was reading “The Book Of 5 Rings” by Miyamoto Musashi, a 16th century samurai master swordsman from Japan. One of my memories of this book was his saying that “Timing Is Everything” and anyone who has competed at an Elite Level sport will know exactly what I mean. Timing my eating was certainly something that captured my interest and it payed off

Reversal Eating is about eating a higher percentage of your food earlier in the day, and then eat a smaller percentage later on. Now this method has some strong arguements that support it, not just the fact that its worked 22 years for me. Let me explain to you the reasons I become a believer. Alot of it is just a reminder of some principles that flow with the bodies design. It can be the key to greater health.

Justin Warren (42) with his Grandmother Leonora (Lenny) Warren (89) WW2 Anzac Veteran (2014)Justin Warren with his grandmother who will celebrate her 90th Birthday this year. Leonora (Lenny) Warren is an ANZAC who was in WW2. Both Her Father & Father In law fought in WW1 at Gallipoli, Her husband in WW2 Borneo & her Brother also Fought The Japanese In WW2. She has been a major motivation about the importance of good nutrition, exercise and health – She is an amazing women and is dearly loved by the whole family.

1 – Remember Food Is For Energy To Survive. It really is the key principle to food when you scrape away the layers of artistic layering and taste sensations. Admit it, how often do you get the urge to cook an artistic colourfull masterpiece for yourself or family? Most people dont give the MKR or Masterchef critisizm, they are hungry and want to eat. We eat to satisfy the energy demands of the body so it can maintain its daily workload. Cooking shows are great, cooking competitions are exciting and Im a fan, their stars and contestants cooking ability amazes me, however remember the primary purpose of food is energy

2 – Most Weight Gains Happen When You Are Sleeping And Your Body Is Stagnant. All the highest energy activities tend to happen during the day (Unless your a night or shift worker). It makes sense that you should start fueling up from the moment you wake, not at the end of the night before your most inactive time, sleep. It just doesnt make sense to me. many households eat three large meals per day, add snacks, afternoon tea, sugared coffee or tea. thats alot of calories to burn unless your a marathon runner. You really just dont need that much food. If you eat more before high energy times and less before low energy times it helps keep a perfect balance

3 – Dont Eat a Huge DinnerAt night before sleep, eat a light meal. From Morning to lunch eat 65% – 70% of your daily intake. If you must have fattier foods, eat them earlier in the day. It will give your body more time to convert and use it as energy and not store on your body. Breakfast have some great healthy choices that you can fill up on, I only have a fried breakfast on occasions. I cant help it. Better I have a fried breakfast than a fried dinner, At least less will store as youll get that chance to use it up, your heart rate drops so low when you sleep, your certainly not using your fried fuel. If you find this difficult, have the meal earlier or at least drop the amount of calories in it.

4 – While Sleeping, You Want To Be Repairing, Not Digesting. Night & Sleep is your bodies way of recharging and repairing, and they can balance each other out. Your body needs to work to digest, it will have to commit some of its time and energy into processing food to something it can use, eating excess food before sleep will require the body to work harder and not put energy into repairing the body, remember after a big meal, waking up and not feeling fully rested? Your body was digesting when it should be using already digested nutrients to repair. Eating Less or earlier will help this process, quicker or earlier food transformation to energy, a more piecefull sleep youll have and your body will repair.

5 – Food Digestion Times Play A Part. Meat takes the longest to digest, around 8 hours to have its nutrients converted for use, add meat with potatoes and the digestion time is longer. Why? Meat is acidic, Potatoes are alkaline. meaning to digest they need different digestive acids, one food needs alkaline, the other food needs acid which actually cancel each other out making digestion more difficult and longer to convert for use in the body. I use a repair protien powder drink as a milkshake for nutrients and protien. this stops hunger and as it will absorb into your body quicker, you can have it abit later. A meat and Potato meal is better at lunch, Ive switched my now and then bacon and eggs to a breakfast meal now from a Lunch or Dinner to allow for digestion

6 – You Dont Need Too Much Food. Be Careful Of What Advertising Feeds You. The food companies and add campaigns may try to convince you of something different, profit is a strong drive, and the evergrowing obesity rate is the result of their success. I cant help think why when I was a teen we were swamped with Cocacola adds everywhere, Coke was like the McDonalds of today in advertising. Coke advertised on TV, Cinema, Store Signs, Magazines, Yo-Yos, After All “Coke Adds Life”. My generation that were subjected to this continuous barrage of advertising are some of the most obese in history, and the habit looks like its passing onto their children with the obesity rate in most countries on the rise still.

Using Reversal Eating Ive been able to enjoy many of the foods I love and maintain a stable life weight, though I have made a variation on the original model of the system to suit my lifestyle.
My stomach can only handle coffee upon arising, then usually abit later Ill have breakfast and the fueling begins. Lunch is my big meal of the day as the high energy demand part of my job is from 3pm to 9pm
Snack style meals, Hot Sustagen or Milo are all I have at night and a repair protien milkshake usually adds any left out nutrients needed and offers a good time to take some of my Fish Oil, Magnesium, Glucosamine pills for my joints, & ligaments a couple of hours before sleep.

At 42, I weigh around what I did when I was 18 (Only 3kg heavier). I had by blood pressure done when 18 and it was 110/70, last week I had it done and it was 110/70 (hasnt changed) I have a slight higher muscle mass as Im not trying to stay in a weight division when competing at 18, but body fat would be about the same. I can still do all I could when 18 (Even Breakdance – Ha Ha) I have friends who do as much martial arts as me and still carry extra weight, I also have family members who have put on weight so I know its not my martial arts training or genetics (Though they would play a small part) It was food, diet, eating and nutrition. Pat Cash taught me a lifetime habit and Ive never had the pleasure of meeting him to say thanks.

Reversal Eating isnt a one stop solution. What you eat and how much you eat, your activity levels and exercise will also play a part. Balance is the key. But before you buy $400 of Herbalife or Rapidloss. Give Reversal Eating a go. I did 22 years ago and I still do. Nothing else has compared and its cost me nothing more than what I was paying before. Remember

“Eat Breakfast Like A King – Eat Lunch Like A Prince – Eat Dinner Like A Pauper & Feel Like A Winner”

WOW Caleb!!! Passing Red Dragonfly Belt & Earning His Discipline Badge – Now Thats A Good Day.

Caleb Dewar Passes His Little Dragonflies Belt

It was a huge week for Taekwondo Central as 120 members passed their belts, but even more nerve racking it was for Taekwondo Centrals Little Dragonflies when 15 little 3 & 4 year old children attempted their belt grading at The South West Sports Centre and Leschenault Leisure Centre, with all passing as a result of a term of kids martial arts training and learning about discipline. self-defence and life skills

Caleb Dewar (4) had a very special day and he was just bursting with excitement. For many including Caleb not only passed his belt but also earned his “Discipline” Skills For Life Badge made it a great day. Caleb had to choose a task at home to help his parents out. Caleb fed his puppy dog and took on the responsibility of continually doing this every day for the whole term.

“Caleb is a pleasure to teach” said Taekwondo Central Head Instructor, Master Justin Warren. “He is enthusiastic, tries his best and always has a story to tell me about his day, Hes a great captain” Caleb is now at the end of the Little Dragonflies Program & will look at promotion to the Little Dragons Classes to learn anti-abduction & anti-bully skills.

The Little Dragonflies Belt System was developed by Master Justin Warren to cater for the many younger children who turned up to our Little Dragons Program. We really needed to develop a system for them based on what they need, so Little Dragonflies was born

It is a great way to teach children about effort & reward, By turning up and training on a weekly basis, your child will learn about setting & achieving goals, The fact that children get excited when we ask them what belt are they going for shows that they realise that they are striving to attain a level that will earn them theyre belt and teach them to set and attain goals. The next skills for life Little Dragonflies & Little Dragons will be taught is “Manners”

Setting and achieving goal is the basis of life success in all areas of life.

Passing Their
Red Dragonfly Belts and promoting up to the Little Dragons (5-8yrs) were. Caleb Dewar, Kara McArthur, Remy Bartlett-Crane, Harry Nortier, Aedden Jones, Tyson Jones.
Blue Dragonfly = Lochlan Baker, Riley Johnson,
Yellow Dragonfly = Heidi Liebert, Liam Irving, Kai Shapkaris, Henry Kettlewell, Seth Murphy, Arton Estrella, James Longhurst

Melissa Warren Achieves 4th Dan Black Belt & The Level Of Head Instructor. John Crawford & Amelia Dale Earn 2nd Dan Black Belt

John Crawford, Amelia Dale, Master Justin Warren, Melissa Warren & Kyrill Lloyd after the grading

(From L-R. John Crawford (16), Amelia Dale (14), Master Justin Warren, Melissa Warren (40) & Kyrill Lloyd (17) after the Black Belt Grading)

Melissa Warren (40) has become Taekwondo Centrals first 4th Dan Blackbelt after passing the high black belt grading under the watchfull eye of Grandmaster Ross Hartnett (8th Dan) and Master Carmela Hartnett (7th Dan)
Melissa was tested over a variety of areas including Traditional Poomsae (Patterns), Advanced Kicking Combinations, 1 Step Sparring, 2 Step Sparring, Self Defence, Knife Defence, Olympic Style Sparring, Kickboxing Style Sparring and finishing with pine board smashing using 4 different techniques. Melissa endured months of conditioning and training to prepare and has now earned the level of Head Instructor meaning she can now grade others their belt levels.

Taekwondo Central has had 5 members in the past make it to 3rd Dan, Melissa is the first to raise above this level and be prepared enough to make the grading

Also stepping up at the grading were Taekwondo Central Bunbury’s Junior Assistant Instructors Amelia Dale (14) and John Crawford (16) who have now both elevated to the level of 2nd Dan Blackbelt after they both passed the level required to pass this level. Amelia & John are both regular helpers in the Bunbury Taekwondo Central classes held at the South West Sports Centre and are a great contribution to the team

Kyrill Lloyd (17) is the next of our members to achieve the goal of blackbelt, Kyrill has been among the most disciplined at the club, taking every opportunity to fine tune his skills for the chance to be graded by a martial arts grandmaster
with a number of members lining up to achieve this level, Kyrills work ethic proves that goals can be achieved through consistancy, he deserves his blackbelt just on effort, though its not needed as he scored a pass and now holds a world recognised Taekwondo Black Belt.

Each member will have to wait the equivelent years as their dan level to grade the next level, Melissa Will get to attempt her 5th Dan in 2018, Amelia & John will grade 3rd Dan in 2016 and Kyrill can attempt 2nd Dan in 2015

Pure Mexcellence – Mex Brown Promotes To The Little Dragons Program

mex & justin
Mex Brown
(5) is one of our latest little champions to step up and pass his first belt in the Little Dragons Program after already successfully passing all 3 levels of the Little Dragonflies program for 3 & 4 years of age.
To pass his Yellow Dragon, Mex had to demonstrate a variety of skills that included striking, blocking, kicking and self defence designed to help children escape an abduction attempt and Mex passed all levels easily.

“He always has a giant smile on his face when training, he’s always enthusiastic and full of energy” said Instructor Master Justin Warren.

The Dragons & Dragonfly programs are designed around anti-abduction & anti-bully skills rather than training a taekwondo program.
The classes are designed around skills that work for their age not techniques designed for sport or an out dated system designed for older kids/adults who have greater strength.
It really is a better way to teach children martial arts that work for them, classes are also “one their level of teaching through positive encouragement”.

Now Mex will move up the ranks of the Little Dragons with the eventual goal of moving to the Super Dragons (Advanced Program) and Mex should have no trouble progressing up these levels this year.
Mex also has the added bonus of having his older sister Indi Brown (9) and his mum, Maaike also progressing up the Taekwondo ranks. Both Maaike and Indi are both training for their next belt
in which they will both be judged for their blackbelt grade, a level that takes about 4 years of training to achieve.

Its a great achievement that’s well deserved

LINDEMANS Bin 1590 Classic Release Burgundy 1959. Only 6000 Bottles Released (Investors Dream Wine)

AUG-Lindemans-Special-reserve-Burgundy-1959

Legends The facts
Bottles produced 6,000 approx
Price today last sale price (2012) was £1,477 (Approx $2100 AUD)

The Lindeman’s, Bin 1590 Shiraz 1959 is a wine investors dream. The combination of its 55 years old history makes it rare enough, but the fact only 6000 Bottles were made and just a quick search on the internet can see how many have been consumed. Should a The Lindeman’s, Bin 1590 Shiraz 1959 come up for sale. Grab it. You wont regret it whether it be for taste or investment. Store it well, dont tell anyone and resell in time, I believe it would be a great Australian Investment Wine,

In fact it may be among Australia’s rare wines, with a number of reviewers already tasting and its small 6000 bottles produced. In a article 17th FeB 2004 Titled  “Lindemans 1965 Hunter Shiraz” by Ken Gargett  it is quoted

“Lindeman’s knows of the existence of only one remaining bottle of its 1959”

Just read below at what some of the wine reviewers say

In recent months I’ve tasted magnificent bottles of 1959 vintage Lindemans Hunter River Burgundy Bin 1590 and 1956 vintage Bin 1270 Hunter River Porphry. Both wines were moved in the mid 1980s direct from the Lindemans Cellar to the similarly cool Farmer Bros Manuka cellar (currently being refurbished to accommodate consumer wine tastings by new owners, Liquorland Vintage Cellars). Sadly, those two legends of the fifties, both with production measured in mere hundreds of cases, are no longer part of Lindemans annual Classic Wine Releases.

Chris Shanahan (Australian Wine Judge) – http://www.chrisshanahan.com

‘Australia’s Mr Wine’ Len Evans treated a much smaller number of us to a dozen or so gems from his and others’ cellars, fully mature treasures such as the famous 1959 vintage of Lindemans Bin 1590 ‘Burgundy’, a prosaic name for an improbably, if heart- stopping, blend of Hunter Valley Shiraz with a little Pinot. They left none of us in any doubt that Australia was capable of making seriously fine wine, but then these were wines made in a very different era, when Australian table wine was still a rarity would be represented abroad only by a dusty London outpost opposite a sex shop in Soho stocked with the likes of Ben Ean and Emu.Jancis Robinson

1959 Bin 1590 – Five Stars

Lindemans 1959 Bin 1590 Burgundy is one of the greatest Hunter Valley wines, on a par with the best of Maurice O’Shea’s light-bodied dry reds – for Bin 1590 is not a leviathan like the 1965 Bin 3110, nor some of the bigger O’Shea wines. Over the years I have drunk many bottles of this wine: it is now exceedingly rare, and it may be I will not taste it again. In a sense, I do not wish to: I would prefer to remember the sheer perfection of the bottle tasted for this work in November 1994.

Medium to full tawny-red; a gloriously fragrant and complex bouquet with a magnificent array of aromas from sweet berry through liquorice to sweet leather. On the palate a superb example of Hunter Valley Hermitage; they simply do not come any better than this. Sweet fruit comes on the mid to back palate, finishing with soft tannins on a dry, yet not drying, farewell.

Lindeman’s, Bin 1590 Shiraz 1959

In 1985 James Halliday, in his Australian Wine Compendium, noted the wine’s ‘light to medium garnet-red colour’ and its ‘soft but infinitely complex amalgam of leather, earth and vegetative aromas, yet with the fruit to carry all those things. The palate is a logical extension of the bouquet: the velvety softness gives an allusion of lightness, but the wine has both the alcohol and the structure to go on almost indefinitely.’ When he tasted the wine again later he said: ‘A gloriously fragrant and complex bouquet with a magnificent array of aromas from sweet berry through liquorice to sweet leather.’ Hunter Valley Shiraz, he concluded, does ‘not come any better than this’. The Australian wine writer Ken Gargett recalls Len Evans proclaiming after a wine dinner in around 2006, at which it was served, that Bin 1590 was ‘the greatest Hunter wine of the last 50 years’. Gargett himself found it ‘mature and complex, with notes ranging from animal hide to campfire… richly flavoured, a hint of beefstock. Amazingly elegant. Though obviously mature, a very long, complex wine. Extraordinary. ‘Len Evans proclaimed that Bin 1590 was
“The greatest Hunter wine of the last 50 years”’
