Thank You to the 28 members who got involved in our demonstration. with little prep time I was so proud of everyone who stepped up and just had a good time with us all.
Fantastically every board broke, and everyone performed just awesome from our Little Dragonflies John & Flynn right up to our Adults Rebecca, Jacky and of course a big thankyou to John and Ajana for all the running around.
I’m especially proud of a few of you who had to overcome nerves and pressure of performing in front of the public. Everyone really stepped up in a very short organisation period.

I’ve been flooded with great comments on my phone and we’ve been asked back again next year. great job to you all.

Master Justin Warren Achieves 6th Dan Black Belt In Taekwondo

Justin During Sparring For His Grading (No its not a Chicken Treat Add)

Taekwondo Centrals Master Head Instructor Justin Warren has moved a notch closer to his life time goal of Grand Master by passing his 6th Dan Black Belt grading examination.
Almost withdrawing due to a bout of illness that kept him away from teaching the week before, the 44 year old decided to take the plunge and attempt the major black belt level that very few ever reach.

Showing signs of not being fully recovered, the Taekwondo master had some early troubles in the examination but as the grading moved on he settled in and started to show signs of a higher performance until scoring a near perfect board breaking score through correct use of technique, speed, flow and of course smashing the boards.

Justin has set the life long goal of becoming a grand master in the art. A Dan grading waiting time works by the student will have to wait the amount of years that they have stripes on their black belt (eg Master Warren will now have to wait 6 years until examining for 7th Dan Black Belt, meaning he will be 58 (2029) at the time of his Grand Master Grading which will most likely be at Taekwondo Headquarters in Seoul Korea called the Kukkiwon.

The key to this is body preservation. The full contact, hard drilling and body toughening will be replaced will flexibility, freedom of movement, body strength and maintaining a healthy weight to keep the body efficient in its movements and avoid injuries, training but being safety conscious and enjoying martial arts for what it means to the individual.. looking after yourself by good nutrition and a non-destructive exercise schedule is key. The wonderful thing is just practising the right martial arts regularly will do just that. Many don’t make the higher level just because they don’t look after themselves and get too many or ongoing injuries

Master Justin Warren passed his grading under the Taekwondo Ohdokwan System, being graded by Grand Master Ross Hartnett (8th Dan Black Belt) Grand Master Carmela Hartnett (8th Dan Black Belt) & Master Jenny Crutchett (7th Dan Black Belt)

Taekwondo Central Instructors Promote Up A Black Belt Dan Level

New Black Belt Promotions. John, Justin, Ajana Vanya

Ajana Plunkett (4th Dan), John Crawford (3rd Dan) & Vanya Possingham (1st Dan) have all promoted up a level with Taekwondo Central welcoming Vanya Possingham to the Black Belt Club.

All gradings were conducted by a Taekwondo Ohdokwan panel of judges from around the Perth Metro area and South West. The Panel included Grand Master Ross Hartnett (8th Dan Black Belt), Grand Master Carmela Hartnett (8th Dan Black Belt) & Master Jenny Crutchett (7th Dan Blackbelt) & Myself (Justin Warren 6th Dan Black Belt)

Ajana Plunkett has been involved in Taekwondo Central for 12 years and is the first student to achieve the upper Dan level of 4th Dan Black Belt. Ajana now gains access to being on the Taekwondo Ohdokwan Grading Panel to grade from 1st Dan Black Belts to 3rd Dan Black Belts. Its a huge achievement for an 18 year old. Anybody who doubts that just has to see her skill level and it wont take long for them to agree. Ajana plays a major roll in Taekwondo Central assisting with classes and running classes for myself or her ever growing Busselton classes. I have always joked with Ajana that she is my “Polly” a reference to the BBC show Fawlty Towers. Polly is the one that runs around and sorts out everything Basil Fawlty (The manager) either misses, messes up or forgets. Ajana has been Taekwondo Centrals longest serving student and is full deserving of this level for both her ability and service to the club. Well Done Ajana.

I remember when John Crawford come to training, he never seamed that interested but he kept turning up every week. John relaxed persona tricked me, over the years he was absorbing and I could see it come through in his drive and attitude to his own training,  John has maintained a great interest in martial arts was a key figure when Taekwondo made its transition from full time academy to running from Recreation Centres in 2014. He still helps to this day, and is a major part of our teaching team, He never misses teaching or training even when the other instructors aren’t available, and never misses a chance to help the club, its truly been a pleasure to have him on board and he also deserves his new level of 3rd Dan Black Belt. Great Job John.

Vanya Possingham is one of my clubs favourite stories, I am very proud of this young man and his ability to not quit when the going gets tough. After having an unsuccessful result previously, Vanya knuckled in, trained hard, kept showing up and had that never say die attitude. Persistence certainly payed off with him passing his black belt examination. He really learned from previous mistakes, turned them around and conquered his black belt goal were we see so many who just give up a the first sign of things not going their way. Vanya now moves up the ever growing list of dedicated individuals who strive to better themselves by having purpose and a personal goal. Its a mindset that will serve Vanya well in the future at what ever goal he sets himself. Well Done Vanya, You did it! Your a 1st Poom Black Belt (Jnr Black Belt)

The next Black Belt grading will be in November/December 2016. We are looking at possibly 10 members at this examination

David Browne Earns Senior 1st Dan Black Belt In Taekwondo

David Browne earns his Black Belt in Taekwondo www.tkdcentral.com

Congratulations David Browne who has passed his Black Belt under the Taekwondo Ohdokwan Panel Grading which comprised of 2 x 8th Dan Grandmasters of Taekwondo. Balancing the responsibilities of his own Jewellers Business, a baby girl with his wife, David has managed to also put some time into his health and achieved the goal he set himself of earning his own Black belt

David is a great example of consistency to purpose, His busy lifestyle meant that he could only get to training once per week, however a black belt is achievable on once per week training just the time frame is different. In saying that, without any doubt David has stepped up to the mark and received a well earned Black Belt level.

David is part of the Adults Taekwondo at the South West Sports Centre in Bunbury. Hes is now focused on his path to 2nd Dan and we wish him all the best.

The Busselton Kids Martial Arts Scene will now include The South West’s most successful martial arts program for 3 – 8 years of age.
The Little Dragons Program run by Taekwondo Central The program currently has 120 active training children and has been running for 12 years
Why is it so popular? Because it has been proven to work when 2 of the children training in the program escaped real life kidnapping attempts on seperate occasions

Read The Mothers Testimonials Of What HappenedClick Here

Another reason they are popular is only 1 x 30 minute session is required per week so its a smaller commitment for both parents and children, but more importantly children are taught to escape situations. child based self defence all combined in a class that not only schools them on self protection but also entertains them, its a great combination to boost learning.  The class teaches what kids need to know to stay safe. To avoid abduction or keep bullies from targeting them. This is far more important and valuable to them than traditional movements, or fixed stances. A child’s greatest chance to escape a kidnapping is fluidity and movement. So we focus on the important 20% of things that is really needed..

“Do not do that which is of no use” – Musashi

The 4 most dangerous mistakes parents make when choosing a self defence school for their child under 9 years of age

Brady Larson Shows His Patience Badge

Little Dragons fits into the school terms and only runs during school is scheduled so it fits into the school cycle easily and into the kids weekly routine. Its a small commitment that gives great results with coordination, balance, flexibility, freedom of movement, reflexes, greater confidence, to make safer choices, personal safety and the belt process is a great way to teach children about goals and reward for effort.

Goals are the building block to being successful at anything in life, not just martial arts.

Ajana Plunkett Focused On 4th Dan Black Belt

Ajana Plunkett with Madison Booth , Isobella Despot, Molly Swarbrick, Angelina DespotAjana Plunkett surrounded by Madison Booth, Isobella Despot, Molly Swarbrick, Angelina Despot

4th Dan Black Belt is a major level in Taekwondo, its one of those benchmarks that most martial artist will never see. Only the real dedicated reach and its the level Taekwondo Central Instructor Ajana Plunkett is now training for.

Starting as a 6 year old in the Little Dragons Program, the now 18 year old assists or teaches classes and is especially popular with the girls of the Little Dragons Program in Bunbury, Eaton & Australind. This is where most see her but many aren’t aware of what Ajana has achieved in her Taekwondo over the last 12 years.

Ajana will be the first to achieve her 4th Dan outside of the 2 owners of Taekwondo Central and will be Master Justin Warren first 4th Dan Black belt who isn’t an immediate family member. Ajana was the first student to reach 3rd Dan black belt.

On the Tournament scene, Ajana has ranked as one of the clubs best to date with
Gold – World Taekwondo Expo Championships (Beating USA & Korea) held in Korea
Gold – International Clubs Taekwondo Organisation (Malaysia)

Ajana was also part of our Central Cyclones that appeared on Channel 7’s “Australia’s Got Talent” in 2012

Ajana Plunkett Zeros in on 4th Dan BlackbeltAjana Plunkett Eyes Of 4th Dan Black Belt In Taekwondo

The World Taekwondo Expo was a great victory. We had set a strategy to beat 2 of the strongest Taekwondo Countries in the World. Ajana’s movement and kick placement was unbelievable. She moved her opponent defence around and then smashed her opponents with a powerful head shot.

Ajana had a lot against her that day. 40’c+ temp in an outdoor stadium in numerous passed out just from the heat, shortened rounds because of 1000+ competitors from all over the world so that changed the strategy and they decided no coaches, so we made code words to indicate when to go for the head shot. It was a great day for our club but Ajana’s was my favourite of that competition.

Reaching 4th Dan and being 18 will now make her able to represent Taekwondo Centrals on the Taekwondo Ohdokwan Grading Panel  (Must be 4th Dan or higher). who will grade up an coming black belts not just from Taekwondo Central but all of the state wide Taekwondo Ohdokwan clubs in WA.

Best of luck Ajana
